Salu Filipino Restaurant celebrate their First Year together with their new dishes

12:33 AM
Salu, The Filipino Restaurant which is owned by the celebrity couple, Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista, opened its doors last June 9, 2016. They provide authentic treats from different parts of the Philippines. This year on their 1 year anniversary, they thrive and is ready to offer more delectable and unique surprise for customers who deserve more when it comes to Pinoy food trip.

The restaurant opened their anniversary month with a blockbuster promo of buy take 1 take 1 of their famous ‘BLK’ (Binagoongang Lechon Kare-kare). A Piso for Brazo de Kalabasa shall also be enjoyed by the first 100 guests for every purchase of Php500.00 on June 11, 2017. Both of these promos were made to give thanks to all Ka-Salu/s who have dined and craved for the best of Salu plates this past year. “Masarap at nakakataba ng puso ang aming unang taon. So we thought, why not give thanks and extend to our customers those blessings that we earned because of their trust through these simple promos. These two dishes, BLK and Brazo De Kalabasa, are our top moving dish and desert on our first year. So its fitting to grant a ‘one’ of a kind treat with buy ‘one’ take ‘one’ and a ‘one’ peso dessert, as we turn ‘one”, shared by Mr. Sarmenta.

Salu was also chosen to represent the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao for the biggest food convention in the world - Madrid Fusion, where they showcased their best southern dishes that’s available only at restaurant. Chefs, culinary experts and delegates of the congress were in awe with the taste of Mindanao cuisines that’s unique and distinct due to special ingredients such as pampa, that’s famous in Mindanao. Some of the featured dishes include Beef Kulma, Syagul Pagi, Utak Utak and Pyanggang. “We are grateful to be chosen by DOT-ARMM headed by Mrs. Ayesha Mangudadatu Dilangalen, to represent their region at the presitigous Madrid Fusion. We have built this brand to be the culinary authority when it comes to all things Filipino. And being chosen to participate in such convention was an affirmation that indeed, we somehow are in the right path of meeting our mission. Hopefully on our second year, we can serve more authentic plates and continue to be a portal for all guests to discover all the flavors of this country, especially those that are still undiscovered”, says Mrs. Harlene Bautista.

On its second year, Salu also unveils their campaign #SarapMabuhay. This showcases not just the exciting flavors that this country has to offer but also highlights the abundance of fresh ingredients that can make any kitchen push for magic. It also refers to the kind of people that you dine with which ranges from family, friends and even strangers and the overall experience of ‘salu-salo’ in the Philippines which has always been distinct.

The campaign would still highlight the adventures of the owners as they search for the next utlimate plates to bring back home to Salu, to be made available for all who wants to discover more. Exciting products and experiences are also up for grabs for all diners. The Pilipinas Platter, their version of a group feast, gives customers an opportunity to taste all the specialities in different parts of the Philippines. All the cuisines are creatively plated on a special carved Pilipinas wooden plate. Luto Ni Nanay gives moms a chance to cook with the talented chefs of Salu as they learn to prepare one of a kind dishes for the family. Salu Launches A New Culinary Experience With Luto Ni Nanay

7:11 AM

In line with the mother’s day celebration last May 14, Salu the Filipino Restaurant has launched its newest offering to families. Mother’s cooking is always best. Coming home to the familiar scent of signature recipes that has been transferred from generations to generations is such a treat. Salu owners, Romnick Sarmenta and Harlene Bautista, had this in mind when they thought of this newest experience that their restaurant is offering - LUTO NI NANAY.

“Whenever we eat out, Harlene would always wonder how the dishes that we ordered was cooked, thinking maybe she can cook it at home too. So we thought why not give that experience to the guests of Salu? An opportunity to learn a new dish and cook for their families inside a professional ktichen”, Mr. Romnick Sarmenta said. The couple also said they were inspired by a lot of moms in different parts of the country when they were doing research. Authentic cuisines of different localities were thought to them by the ‘Nanays of Tanahan’, who are hailed to be the veteran chefs of the provinces. The kitchen was also trained by some of these veteran moms who flew in all the way from their municipalities to Salu. This is all done to keep faithful with Salu’s core philosophy of serving only the best and most authentic cuisines in the country.

Dine in guests could choose from three set menu - Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao. Each would already contain a list of viands, rice and single served drinks. Moms would be asked to cook at least two dishes from each set inside the Salu Kitchen, thus the name Salu’s Luto ni Nanay. To complete the learning experience, a Salu chef would assist the moms in their cooking, teach them techniques on how to make dishes better, tastier. A hand painted apron will be provided to moms right after the said activity as their souvenir to keep for their unique culinary experience.

Set meals range from Php2,000-Php2,500 good for 5-7pax. A very affordable package that is mixed with a valuable experience not just to the moms but to the whole family as well. Another exciting thing about Luto Ni Nanay is the Mindanao Package. “We are very proud to be chosen to represent the ARMM region during the recently concluded Madrid Fusion. We were, they said, the only restaurant in Manila who serves a range of the most authentic Mindanaon dishes according to DOT. So we thought, let’s all make this experience of cooking the most authentic Madrid Fusion dish to our nanays”, said Mrs. Harlene Bautista. Madrid Fusion is the biggest culinary event in the country held last April 2017. Salu served Tiyula Itum, Beef Kulma, Pinaggang and Utak-utak to the delight of many.

Guests would need to call Salu’s hotline to reserve a slot for Luto Ni Nanay, 2821512, or contact them through their facebook fan page.

Where to Eat at Angat Bulacan

9:28 AM
Image from FB post of Rhodora
Angat, Bulacan is my province, if ever you will be passing by my province, here is a quick tip on where to eat.

Rengmitz' Grill just recently had a renovation of their Restaurant. It was a huge difference because before it had an ordinary restaurant design. But now somehow the interior is a lot better than before. It has a unique hanging light at the ceiling , the chairs and tables are now presentable and lots of instagramble quotes are can be found inside. It is cozy while you and your family are enjoying the great food that they serve.

Menu

They served breakfast to dinner. Some of their menu have a schedule like the "Fresh Lumpiang Sariwa" which is available every Friday only. The price of each food that they serve is just right but the BBQ price for my opinion is a little bit pricey. I think they based their price of the BBQ on the demand of it and they are known for their BBQ.

What are my top picks from their menu?

  1. BBQ - Rengmitz' Grill is know for their unique taste for their BBQ. Over the past years, I think this is their Signature food. Angateneos always order this one. The meat is perfectly cured with a sweet taste and it is tender.
  2. Pancit Bihon - I don't know if it is just me or there is really something to their pancit bihon. The vegetables is not that overwhelming and the noodles taste good. "Nandun yung ninamnam pagkinakain mo siya".
  3. I forgot the name of the other one, but it is Tilapia with a sour soup.
My son together with my cousin

You can also order to them thru phone and deliver it at your home, which is plus for a Restaurant. This is just one reason why you should visit our Province Angat, Bulacan and discover new and exciting place you can enjoy with your family!
