First Culinary Summit: Skills is the new global currency according to SKD Academy

11:21 PM
SKD Culinary school

SKD Academy is one of the leading Culinary schools in the Philippines recently held a 1st Culinary Summit in Amoranto Theater in Quezon City entitled “Power up! Skills is the new global currency”. They include the words Learn.Work.Enjoy on their flyers , which I could definetly seen on the event. This event showcase each of their campuses around the Philippines. Quezon City, Meycauayan in Bulacan, Batangas City, Lipa City in Batangas, Gapan City in Nueva Ecija, Baguio City, San Fernando in Pampanga, La Trinidad in Benguet.

It was a whole day event that discussed the different facets of becoming a chef.  The day was filled with celebration of empowerment that was imparted to its students and public.  The culinary school believes that being empowered to have skills is the new global currency.

They aim to help the students acquire new set of skills or enhance their existing culinary skills turning them into a competitive and the best workforce in the country.  “Passion and hardwork is what drives having a valued skill set.  Together, we want you to have as an edge when we conquer the culinary world’, Mr. Jefferson Camba mentioned to his opening speech during the summit. To end, this event was a tribute to all of the talents and skills of its students as they raise it to a level that has a potential to go global.

Also at the event they have lots of guest speakers that inspire each students to persue their Culinary dream to be a great chef. We we're given a Media Passport booklet to try all of the offerings of each campus which is exciting.

Mom 101 : Harvey's First Hair Cut | Cuts 4 Tots

8:56 PM
Harvey's first hair cut

Getting your child's haircut seems to be hard on both for us parents and definitely our children. Most of the stories i heard our child mostly cry, confuse on what is happening on their surroundings. Sometimes dads and moms also carried away by this gestures. Our little pumpkins don't understand that cutting his hair is not painful and that it grows again. On their mind there's a sharp thing making noise near his face and ears or a tool that feels like it could cut his skin like his hair.

Harvey's first hair cut

Here I will share some tips and what to do on your babies first hair cut.

We Filipinos have some pamahiin or myths , on babies hair cut should be done when they reach his first year. The elders have been suggesting to shave his hair bald to promote hair growth and make it look thicker. I'm not sure if this old wives' tale is true but I decided not to go thru this bald thing. It was last saturday after Harvey's vaccine Angelo and I decided to give it a try on Cuts 4 Tots Hair Salon , The Block , SM North EDSA.

Harvey's first hair cut

After checking out the place and asking the rates on the services also with all those toys, kids-friendly atmosphere, we finally decided to start it. There were a lot of kids that time having a haircut.

Tip number 1:
We fed up Harvey before going to the salon, so that in that terms he is in good mood and he have more energy.

Tip number 2:
We let him walk around to the mall first and play all he wants.

Tip number 3:
We talk to him like a big boy, we said to him that he is going to have his hair cut to make him "gwapo" or "pogi". Well I don't know if he really understands that word but he smiles and look for a mirror once we say those words to him and he also makes cute gestures.

Tip number 4:
Make sure that your son/daughter have enough sleep a night before the salon visit.

Harvey is now ready! He sat down to the car which were also their kiddie salon chairs. While he was enjoying his car, the salon staff took a picture for his First Haircut Certificate (her before picture). By the way I availed a complete package worth 592php, that includes a :

The staff starts to play a video Mickey mouse and friends and blowing out some bubbles. Well Harvey really loves bubbles that time. He is behave watching the video and pop out the bubbles. I am so proud with my baby boy, he was just sitting still we didn't need any additional staff to assist my baby. One thing he got scared of that noise hair trimmer but the hair dresser stop using it when he notice that Harvey is scared to it.

We're done! No traumatic experience, no crying,no drama at all. Now he can drop all those itchy ears because his hair is now not touching his ears. He is more pogi. By the way the certificate, I will get it after 2 weeks of processing.
